About New York Media: New York Media is the parent company of the ground-breaking weekly New York magazine, founded in 1968; the website nymag.com, an up-to-the-minute news and service site for New Yorkers; the national restaurant search Website MenuPages along with GrubStreet.com; and the twice-yearly New York Weddings magazine. New York magazine is the regional and national authority on the greatest city on Earth, read by more than 1.7 million people each week. Job Summary: New York Media—publisher of New York magazine, NYMag.com, Vulture.com, and Grubstreet.com— is looking for a creative, seasoned information architect with a minimum of five years experience to join its UX Team. The IA will help define how our network of consumer-oriented media websites, apps, and mobile products will evolve. The position will work closely with product owners, designers and developers to articulate product vision, wireframe concepts, diagram workflow, shape informational hierarchies, design interaction models, and shepherd products through visual design and development.
Responsibilities:
Ideal Candidate Profile: As a candidate, you must have facility in crafting experiences that meet equally well the needs of users/readers, editorial tone/identity, and business goals. You are equal parts product-thinker, information architect, interaction designer, and usability professional. You communicate and collaborate well with software architects and developers. You realize that the ideal first release of a product is one that may not include all the features the business wants but works better than the audience expects. You are familiar with the capabilities/best practices of HTML 5 and iOS. You care deeply about the details while always keeping the big picture in mind. Requirements: 5+ years in the field of user experience design, including working with media/editorial products.
