PatientsLikeMe is an exciting company in the social health space that builds data-oriented patient communities.  We're looking for someone to fill a unique role as both visual designer and user experience designer.  We want someone who can ensure great user experience and create elegant solutions for a product that makes a difference in patients' lives.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop wireframes, prototypes, and final designs
• Use your conceptual and problem-solving skills to translate ideas (business needs and user goals) into design solutions
• Collaborate with an agile team of Product, Engineering, Research and Marketing staff and customers to create elegant solutions to complex problems
• Assist in the development of use cases, functional and strategic requirements
• Get to know and love our users, what they need and how they think

Requirements:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A solid portfolio of previous visual design work, especially user interfaces for web-based applications
• 4+ years of user-centered design experience Mastery of standard design applications
• Strong knowledge of principles of UX and UI design
• A passion for learning, willingness to try new things and take chances

Desirable:

• Understanding healthcare industry and patient needs is a big plus
• Experience designing data visualizations
• Experience with Agile development process
• Experience conducting or observing usability tests
