Position Title: Web Application Developer (PHP/PostgreSQL)

Experience Required: 2-4 years

Position Description

The web application developer position involves both technical and project management work. The programmer will participate in all phases of project development, from collecting use requirements to application design and implementation, with primary focus being on the end-user experience.

 Essential Functions

• Design and implement front-end interfaces for multi-user, database-driven web applications, including integration of maps and spatial data
• Interact with customers and team members to identify, analyze, and prioritize user interface requirements and features
• Manage technical support requests and issues while maintaining and updating existing web applications
• Design solutions to a variety of technical problems ranging in scope and complexity and present them in a clear and effective manner
• Effectively collaborate with team members and customers

• Manage multi-year enterprise-scale projects with direct and on-going interaction with client

Qualifications and Skills

• Expert experience using PHP and Ajax technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript)
• Fluent in designing cross-browser, standards-compliant web application interfaces with an emphasis on graceful degradation
• Understanding of relational database design, experience interfacing with relational databases, and strong familiarity with SQL. Experience with PostgreSQL is a plus
• Experience with Mapserver/Mapscript and Google Maps is a plus
• Strong programming skills with attention to designing secure and maintainable code and experience working with version control. Experience using Git is desired
• Excellent organization, time-management, and oral and written communications skills
• Ability to work effectively with teams
• Imaginative; clever; strong problem-solving skills
