ISITE Design: Senior User Experience Strategist
(Cambridge, MA) ISITE Design is seeking a user experience leader to join our growing Cambridge office. The position will play a key role in defining the overall practice with the Director of User Experience, grow the team and work as an external evangelist and thought leader.
We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable leading in-depth discovery sessions to discuss business strategy and user goals, and shaping a vision for how the digital channel can serve users in innovative ways. You want to plug into a passionate and talented team. You enjoy sharing your thoughts externally, through speaking at conferences or writing for our award-winning ISITE Insight blog or newsletter. You’ve always got your eye on an opportunity to elevate experience design, for the agency and the industry. You also enjoy rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands on the design, for the sheer joy of seeing your vision come to life.
Specific Responsibilities
- Participate in the development and delivery of sales materials showcasing ISITE’s UX chops and capabilities
- Lead business discovery sessions that get to the heart of our clients, their businesses, and their target audiences
- Conduct research including surveys, contextual interviews, user persona development, and both formal and informal usability studies
- Lead and participate in activities geared toward innovation and creative ideation, to generate both pie-in-the-sky and down-to-earth ideas that help satisfy a wide variety of needs and goals
- Skillfully merge business strategy, research findings and creative innovation to generate unique, strategic solutions (on time and on budget, of course)
- Design and present solutions to clients; formats include (but are not limited to) use cases, site maps, wireframes, navigation standards, content inventories, functional requirements, storyboards, and flow diagrams; delegate work to a UX Architect as appropriate
- Collaborate with other departments and practice groups to assist in the continual evolution of ISITE’s experience design practice (point of view, approach, process, and deliverables)
- Identify new areas of growth for ISITE’s experience design team, and collaborate with the management team to formulate and execute action plans
- Travel up to 25% of the time (approx. one week per month)
- Thought leadership: Be a visible and engaged member of the UX/digital community though active speaking, writing and community involvement (e.g. FutureM)
- Team mentoring: Recruit and mentor members of the Cambridge UX team based on agency growth
- Sales: Work closely with the business development team on new opportunities
- Process development: Work closely with the Director of User Experience to evolve the agency’s UX processes and approach
Qualifications
- At least 8 total years of demonstrable success in a user experience role, in strategic and tactical capacities (all or part of which were performed in an agency environment)
- Able to deftly balance business strategy with user needs, research, and time/budget constraints
- Able to work as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced agency environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both spoken and written
- Able to work alone or in direct collaboration with others
- Ideal candidate will also have experience with cross-channel marketing, social media, content strategy and mobile
