Job Summary

Chatham's technology team is looking for a talented web designer to help build next generation web platforms for capital markets.   This role will be the first of its kind at Chatham, so the right candidate will have a great opportunity to influence our design objectives and capabilities.  This role will have a high amount of collaboration with users and our software development teams, and work in the context of Agile software principles in two-week sprints.

Excellent candidates will be well rounded individuals, with an ability to learn quickly.  Candidates should be highly motivated self-starters with a passion for developing awesome web sites.  Accordingly, strong technical and logical thinking skills are essential.  A Bachelor’s degree or higher is strongly preferred, although we retain an open mind as to the major. Good written and verbal communication skills are required, as this role will interact with other team members in various departments.  Excellent design skills and attention to detail are a must.   In short, we are looking for people whose passion for people and design will help us to continue to innovate and add value to the whole company.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain clean, intuitive, semantic web page layouts that don’t require tables
• Estimate and plan design sprints to make the most effective use of time
• Collaborate and work with software developers and users in 2-week sprints
• Create graphics for website, including icons, UI elements, and photos

 Skills and Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of 4 years experience in web design
• Knowledge of UX is important
• Strong familiarity with a source control system, like Subversion
• Strong understanding of site structure, navigation, UI principles, wireframes, and user flows
• Desire and ability to learn new things
• Design, usability, and technical experience in developing site maps, visual design concepts, and working prototypes for data-driven web sites
• Knowledge of browser/device compatibility, cross-browser issues/challenges and current web design trends and techniques
• Ability to decouple design logic from semantic structure using CSS
• Strong HTML and Javascript skills
• Knowledge of CSS3, HTML5, jQuery, JSON and AJAX
