The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) seeks a highly qualified and experienced, creative Web Developer. Leading the center’s web page development team and reporting to the head of Corporate Communications, the successful candidate will be expected to provide the vision for, plan, and implement work to design, develop, manage, and maintain a dynamic new corporate web page for the center. The Developer will work with scientists, science writers and communicators, graphic designers, and the Information and Communications Technology Unit. S/he will also help ensure 24-7-365 operation of CIMMYT’s website, in conjunction with a web server administrator, and help to monitor, analyze, and report on usage and related trends, as well as acting on findings. The Developer will keep abreast of technology development, new website applications, and the use of social media, creatively and effectively applying them to improve the impact and functionality of CIMMYT's website. The successful candidate will be possess good organizational skills and work effectively with minimal supervision as part of a multidisciplinary, multicultural team. The position will be based at CIMMYT Headquarters in Texcoco, just outside of Mexico City. CIMMYT offers an attractive remuneration and competitive package.

Minimum skills and experience:

• Develop Bachelor degree with 3-5 years experience or equivalent experience required.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with XHTML, CSS, PHP, ASP, .NET and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of / experience with OS Windows and Linux.
• Usability and user testing experience.
• Design skills.
• Use of / interfacing with social media to strengthen web page impacts and reach.
• Experience with search engine optimization.
• Experience using open source CMS.
• Familiarity with cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility issues.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, and demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate with others towards shared goals in a multicultural setting.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Desired skills and experience:

• Develop Bachelor degree with 3-5 years experience or equivalent experience required
• Course work or work experience in biological or agricultural science.
• Experience with XML/XSL tools.
• Proficiency in written and verbal Spanish
• Familiarity with wiki software such as Confluence.
• Experience with or exposure to repository software and repositories.
• Project management experience.
• Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish.
