United Needs is building a trusted, social trading exchange platform to connect anyone with a NEED to those with a solution for that need.  Our goal is to change the world; fulfilling one need at a time by employing expert networks, crowdsourcing and corporate social responsibility. The long-term goal is a new kind of trading platform that connects government leaders, the private sector, NGOs and individuals around an activation engine (mobile and web) to create transparency, collaboration and curation of the movement of goods and services around the planet. 

The first product/service is microNEEDS (ask us about this)-- a solid, useable and achievable step on that journey, and we need strong designers and developers who share the vision of United Needs in making the world a better place by fulfilling one need at a time and then scaling the vision to massive proportions.

API -> Appify -> Gameify: that is the gCommerce cycle on which we’re focused – appifying and gameifying global commerce and social good.  If you'd like an opportunity to create transmedia experiences across the web, Facebook, portable widgets, browser apps and smartphones that actually do something good for the planet and it’s population, then you need to be part of the United Needs team. 

REQUIREMENTSThough we are a tech-savvy senior team, we have yet to decide upon which platform we will be building the United Needs Beta, as we feel it appropriate to give new team members the ability to influence that decision. We do know that it will be open source (Ruby, Python, PHP or other) and cloudified (EC2, Google Apps, or other).

You need to have mad code-design, architecture and app development skills. Supportable, scalable, extensible and documented code is a must.  Database architecture and design experience is a plus, as is API architecture/development experience.  If you can get into front-end stuff too (jQuery, javascript, etc) then you’re a stud and we need to talk.  You will need to be open to training in gamification and agile techniques, if you don’t already have those skills in your arsenal.  This is a superstar team taking on a tough but tractable problem in social commerce.  We’d like only the best and most motivated to apply.
