ShopSavvy Inc.: iOS Developer with strong back-end skills (Rails)

ShopSavvy seeks a highly motivated iOS Developer who is eager to tackle the huge market opportunity of mobile shopping. This person must be able to operate in a startup environment where pride and ownership of great code and products is essential. We really want someone who has back-end experience with Ruby on Rails. We have an ambitious strategy that goes far beyond our current market. It requires a tight relationship with sales and product management and a close appreciation of user needs.

About ShopSavvy: the current small team bootstrapped amazing achievements in the last two years which reveal the market opportunity and the current technical talent. ShopSavvy’s mobile apps gives millions of consumers instant pricing and review information on products near them and online. It has over 8 million active users and 16 million downloads. It’s a top 10 app on Android and is a top 100 app on iPhone and growing fast. The system delivers up to 5000 online and local offers a minute. ShopSavvy won the original Google’s Android Developer Challenge. The team has launched an advertising system designed to let advertisers target consumers exactly at the decision point. The SDK is used by partners such as CNET and PriceGrabber. Based on these successes, the company has ambitious plans to grow the team and business so we can fully capitalize on this opportunity.

Role and Experience

  • Experience writing reliable and high-performance code
  • Not afraid to work in fast paced and agile development environment. Expect to do things properly and thoroughly the first time and improve your systems with each subsequent release.
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, refactoring, and algorithm design.
  • Proven experience launching successful complex software systems that real consumers actually use. Can fully and independently own projects from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project.
  • Great communicator with users, other engineers, marketing/sales, and management to describe software product features, and technical approaches. Computer science degree… obviously!
  • Ideally bring domain expertise in the areas of search, ecommerce, and or social.
  • Looking for someone who wouldn’t rather be doing anything else
