Shotgun Software: Senior Interaction Designer

(Anywhere (San Francisco a plus))

We're looking for a UI/UX ace to join our team.  We're a young and growing company building software for the visual effects, feature animation, and video game industries.

Our main product, Shotgun, is a flexible web-based application for production tracking and collaboration that is used in studios and visual effects houses around the world. It is designed for everyone working in the studio, across many roles and needs. Our product line is expanding, and we want to maintain a sharp focus on usability and design, ensuring ourusers are happy and efficient. This is where you come in.

We're looking for an interaction designer who is passionate about making powerful, professional level software without sacrificing simplicity or usability in the process. We believe people at every skill level deserve software that doesn't require a specialized degree to understand –– and we want you to help us build it.

We hire the best of the best. You'll be working with a team of top-tier designers and developers to extend and improve Shotgun’s user interface. You'll conduct user research with artists in studios all over the world.  You'll design workflows and wireframes for world-class applications for creative professionals. We work with an agile development process and release software every 6 weeks, so the pace is very quick and iterative.

About You

You should have:

  • An academic background in HCI, human factors/ergonomics, cognitive science or related field
  • 3+ years experience designing sophisticated desktop, mobile or web-based applications
  • A strong portfolio detailing your contributions to those applications
  • The ability to analyze complex workflows and distill them to their fundamental requirements
  • Good visual design sense (master pixel pushing skills not required)
  • Independent, strong problem solving and communication skills

It would be even better if you had:

  • Experience working in or around movie production, visual effects, or game development
  • Worked on a distributed team or in an agile environment
