Posse Foundation: Database Developer

(New York, NY)

About The Posse Foundation

The Posse Foundation is a nonprofit youth leadership development and college access program that started because of one student who said, “I never would have dropped out of college if I had my Posse with me.” We identify public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. The Foundation places them in supportive, multicultural teams—Posses—of 10 students. These teams are then prepared, through an intensive eight-month Pre-Collegiate Training Program, for enrollment at top universities nationwide to pursue their academics and to help promote cross-cultural communication on campus. The Foundation’s partner universities award Posse Scholars four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships and awards.

The Posse Foundation is a national organization that operates out of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, and Washington, DC. The Posse Program has demonstrated great success over the past twenty-one years, placing over 3,638 students at 39 top colleges and universities. Since 1989, Posse Scholars have won over $402 million in scholarships from Posse partner universities and are persisting and graduating at 90 percent—higher than the national averages. Additionally, on March 11, 2010, The Posse Foundation became one of only 10 organizations selected by President Barack Obama to receive a portion of the president’s $1.4 million Nobel Peace Prize award money.
